As you are aware, my responsibilities as Transitional Pastor/Head of Staff are twofold:
In order to best prepare for a Pastor Nominating Committee’s selection, our congregation needs to address three (3) basic questions:
As a Transitional Pastor, I have secured a team of people to collaborate with me in addressing and answering these three questions. They are Jim Lee, Moderator, Dick Rose, Becky Mann, Dick Schwab, Elizabeth Ford, and Bill Kahn.
First, it will take us 4-6 months to complete our task as a Mission Study Team.
Secondly, our team has met twice and is scheduled to meet in the near future.
Thirdly, the team will address each of the “three” questions in separate surveys to the entire Georgetown congregation. Our hope will be to have as many people as possible to respond to each survey.
Fourthly, once all answers are received by the congregation, our final task will be to gather the raw data into a 4–6-page document called…GPC’s Mission Study Report.
Fifthly, once this report is approved by Session and Presbytery, the congregation will elect a Pastor Nominating Committee.
The Pastor Nominating Committee will present this report to potential pastoral candidates as a way to introduce them to GPC.
